Good word Art! Thanks for sharing...Yesterday I listened to a message out of Matthew 11, 3 points from the viewpoint of God as he shared about John the Baptist. We're at the end of ourself. We look around asking are we making a difference? Does anybody see? Does anybody know? notice? care? then Jesus says, you should hear what I'm saying behind your back. 1) your doing better than you think you are. 2) you matter more than you think you do. & 3) it's less about you than you think. It's not about you when your doing good & not about you when your doing bad. Spoke to me. Blessings brother!

Couldnt agree more, Charlie. Miss Tillie was, and is, an amazing woman of God. It was a privilege to work alongside her and everyone else at MA.

Wow! Art, that was a powerful observation and after serving in Arlington for more than 20 years, I know it to be true and it's mainly because of God's grace poured out thru one of His servants . . . Tillie Burgin . . . the founder of Mission Arlington!

Great story, Art. Every church/ministry should aspire to have such a reputation worthy of Christ.

A year ago, owing to the deconstruction and rebuilding of the Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, they moved the Alabama State Fair to a large lot adjoining the Verizon Music Center in Pelham. My son Brian is the Captain of Paramedics for the City of Pelham, so he worked the Fair as one of the on-duty medics.

First night, a camel there on display, accidentally fell on, and was impaled by, a 3' stake holding down the corner of the tent. That was their first call there, and unfortunately they lost the patient.

There was some hush-hush talk about animal sacrifice, but nothing was ever proven....

Well, on that whole getting started too late with the physical activity thing, just let me say it's a drag on us thinner people, too. I hope everyone has a "pants size" to which he will not go. For me it was 36. I wish I could say it was a spiritual discipline, but the truth is I was just so tightfisted that I wasn't going to by all new pants because I outgrew the 34s. So I've been at size 34 for a decade or more.

But I hate exercising. Did I say that I hate exercising? I love the thought of exercising, and even like to tell people that I run and bike several times a week. But what I really liked was the metabolism I had in my teens through 30s where I could eat all the candy, food, cake, brownies or whatever and never gain any weight at all. One bonus I did have were two jobs that required endless amounts of physical exertion; exercise was part of my job. I was getting paid to stay skinny. Not any more.

You are right, though, about the need. As with you, the older I get, the more acutely aware I am of how much I need to stay in shape. It is a matter of discipline, and, therefore, a matter of discipleship.
