A few months ago a service to send out emails to your “unsaved” friends in the case of “the rapture” made the news.
Last night, Law and Order (the original) featured a similar service as a main part of the plot. Did you catch it?
Man, we look ridiculous to these people.

I missed this. Are the folks running the service not believers? If they are believers and their eschatology is right then who will click “send”? If they aren’t believers then why are they offering this service…wait…never mind…we live in America, cha-ching!

I figure if several million people suddenly vanish from the face of the earth, it’ll make the evening news. And some non-believing skeptic who knows a lot of bible facts will figure it out and brag he knows what happened.

I did catch it. I love Law and Order. I too felt that we looked ridiculous but I thought of course that it was a really bad characterization of evangelicals and more of a slam against Christians than an accurate depiction.

True, but I thought in itself the poor characterization of evangelicals is, at least in part, due to the fact that they perceive us as ridiculous to begin with.

I wonder. In light of eternity, is it the ones who mocked or the ones being mocked who will look silly. I mean, it’s obvious to even my non believing friends that the joke isn’t a good one and it makes the writers look dumb.

I don’t think they were mocking us. Just portraying us the way that they see us, and that is on us, not them.
You see, it wasn’t a joke. It was how they actually see us, for good reason.
The reason we look ridiculous is because of us. That website is ridiculous.
It would be ridiculous to defend it.
