10 things we don’t mention in worship songs, but that I’m happy God saved me from. « 22 Words
Abraham Piper has a great list of 10 things he is grateful God saved him from, but that we don’t sing about in worship songs. I wonder why…
So, here is my list:
- The wrong girl.
- The wrong church.
- Being an Architect.
- Prison.
- Drowning.
- Being stuck in the 80’s.
- Drugs.
- An early death.
- Bachelorhood.
- Childlessness.

1) A career which depended on my good looks.
Any desire to eat tongue, snake, etc.
2) Pursuing a musical career as an accordionist (I studied 5 or 6 years).
3) Fondness for opera (it’s one of my favorite things to poke fun at).
4) Scrupulous adherence to good grammar.
5) An aunt like one of my kids’ aunts who chased them around to plant a big wet smooch on them when they were little.
6) Living in Erie, PA (don’t ask).
7) The wrath of the Supt of the DMV in Indiana, whom I accidentally drag-raced and tried to block, when I was a teenager. (He let me go with a lecture) I thought he was a buddy of mine.
9) A good sense of smell (see instructions on #6)
10) A fondness for Starbuck’s foo-foo pseudo-coffee.
