Art: Still trying to recover? Well, at least that explains why you're all PENNED up.

Me, I like el cheapo pens. They're less traumatic to lose.

You are a cruel, cruel man Art! At least it was just a Braums cup and not a fancy sundae box. We have DQs out here in Alabama but it ain't Braums. Every Christmas when my family makes the trek back to Oklahoma my wife and I always hit Braums within the first couple of nights. Rib Crib follows closely thereafter but that is another story.

I had an older pastor of a neighboring church picking on me recently when I told him I worked out my sermons on a yellow legal pad rather than a computer. He told me that as I Gen-Xer I should be up on all the newest tech toys. I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one going old school. (Truth is I don't have anything else worthy in my office)

My DOM also picked on me recently for not having a blackberry but I instead use a paper calendar and a pen. I informed him it had nothing to do with an aversion to technology but that his salary was twice mine and I had 4 kids still living with me. :) If a spiral and a ball point was good enough for Paul then its good enough for me...at least while I still qualify for welfare. :)

My God is good though. He supplies all our needs and probably too many of our wants. We are blessed.

Oh, and the golf club pen on my desk isn't functional. It was a wedding gift from my mother in law, and so it is ever on display. Also, I love golf, so...

Still the truth is there are countless pens spread across my desk that you don't see. They are either out of the picture or out of sight, behind some piece of mail, budget projection or book. None of these, upwards of 5 pens at various places on my desk, are counted with the ones in my top drawer, where there are probably another 5 - 10. These, of course, are not included in the count of the box of paper mate black medium points located in the bottom left hand drawer.

I like good pens. I loath bad ones.

The one in my shirt is the best I have ever owned, and safeguard it from being lost like the others in my life because of its surpassing value among pens. I am not using it here because I snatched up the one in my hand from a convenient spot and forgot that I had the prince of pens attached to my shirt, close to my heart.

I'm at home still trying to recover from this lingering cough/congestion thing and am feeling a little literary today. Can you tell?

Let's see .. you have one pen in the desk set, another stuck in your shirt neck opening, and another one in your hand. Are YOU the reason I can never find a pen when I need one?

Also, congratulations on being a neat freak. You appear to have pulled out a kleenex and stuffed it under the Braum's cup.

Only one Starbucks!?!? Whatever will Ben do? They will know him by name by the end of the month, I suspect.

DQ is awesome. Every small town in TX has a DQ. They may have nothing else, but they will have that. When I was in Seminary and driving around to speaking engagements, going home or to visit my wife (girlfriend/fiance' at the time) I could always count on a DQ in the next town, no matter what the town was.

Braums, however, has better ice cream. Still, there is something about soft serve dipped in hardshell chocolate.

Oh, yes... back to the post... :)

I missed it when I lived in exile, too.

When I looked at the picture, I knew somebody would see that cup and say something about Braums.
