Today is Jimmy Rogers’ 13h birthday. Welcome to being a teenager in America. I pray you cling to God with the zeal you have shown in your life thus far. It is my privilege to be your father and to call you my son.

And now, the traditional here’s the good stuff I got for my birthday picture.

Included, along with money is a ball that is an outdoor, man powered ice cream maker, an iPod nano, charger and case for said nano, gift cards to Sonic and Barnes & Noble. This is just the initial wave. The rest of the family comes later with more. Spoiled rotten. :)

    Happy Birthday, Jimmy.

You are now at the age of which a guy should really begin to seek to be “THE FOUR STRONGS.”

    1. Spiritually Strong

    2. Emotionally Strong

    3. Mentally Strong

    4. Physically Strong

Now, I know your “Ole” Daddy and your wonderful Mother have been prayerfully guiding you toward that even before you were born. You are of the fortunate born to godly parents who love you and have committed your rearing to be in the admonition of the Lord. Seek now with a greater vigor to love Jesus with all your heart, mind, body and soul for all of your life. Listen to the directions of your Father. Cherish the teachings of your Mother. Reject the fellowship of foolish men and women. Delight yourself in the Word of God. Talk to God often. Let Him have your heart. He will give your heart to wonderful things. He will entrust you with the care of mighty wonders. Follow Him above all.

Lastly, I say to you forget not the FOUR STRONGS and they will serve you as you serve God and honor your parents.

Never forget to thank God for your folks. They are of the best. They were the first mighty wonder God entrusted to your care. Cherish them.

    Happy Birthday!

    This is actually Jimmy’s mom:

I am so proud of my boy, er young man (ouch, that makes me old!!). At the beginning of this past school year, one of his teachers asked the students’ parents to write, in 100 words or less, a description of their child. I found this so difficult because there is so much to say about my son. He is funny, goofy, sensitive, caring, smart as a whip, inquisitive, thoughtful,…I could go on and on. But the thing I am most proud of is the fact that he loves God and is growing in his relationship with him all the time. I thank all of you for your prayers and keep praying. The world is a scary place for a parent to begin the slow process of “letting go.” Plus, to be honest, I have a lot to be payed back for during the teenage years. :-)
    CB,

Thanks for your powerful words for Jimmy. I thank you for taking the time to give him wonderful advice.

    Jimmy’s mom,

    Bonnie

From a member of SDBC, I have to say that Jimmy is a great kid. He’s get the “wit” of his dad and the sweetness of his mom. Ok, maybe a little sweetness from Art, but not much!!

I’m so grateful to have this family as a part of our church and for Art to be our pastor. I am excited about the path he will lead us down as we grow in the Lord.

  5. Marty Duren Says:

If Jimmy got even a little sweetness from Art, then Art won’t have any left.

    Happy Birthday, dude!

  6. Vicki Says:

Amen, Marty!! However, Bonnis is “full of” wit too. She’s one of the funniest people I know. She once said she didn’t know how to act like a pastor’s wife and I said she needs to be Bonnie and that’s all we expected. She’s become one of my dearest friends.
