Art,

This comment is not surprising. It's based on what worked 30 years ago. The "moderates" predicted this day would come when conservatives would divide yet again. Notice the age make up of the various groups in action. Notice how the world changed since 79. There is no limit to the differences now among conservative groupings. The old guard will truly see any attempt by the young up and comers to be an attack on their efforts. Yes, there are obviously some younger bloggers who throw their support to the old guard. There are still rewards to be handed out by them. One of the real problems is the "new breed" do not seem to be moved by rewards as in the past. They tend to refuse being bought out by promises of positions etc. Are there liberals any longer? No. Are there individuals who stand alongside others in hope of further reform? Yes. How sad we still stoop to labels instead of speaking truth in love.

Dr. Patterson has lost all credibilty. He is only making himself look bad. I think most messengers will see through his bluff.

Tim,

I think it will come to the floor. It is very carefully worded to avoid instructing the Boards to do anything.

Of course that depends on the disposition of the Committee on Order of Business and the President.

As for being a Liberal, I'm afraid many conservatives have a real problem with the agencies going beyond the BFM. I'm one.

Unless you define Liberal as Dr. Patterson has apparently done - those who don't believe exactly as he does on the issue under discussion at the time.

Kevin,

I'm afraid it was.

Wade was interviewed by a reporter immediately after and said that there was as much chance of finding a liberal in the SBC as finding a Dallas Cowboys football player playong on the Houston Astros.

Art,

I would be shocked if the motion on the BF&M is not ruled out of order. The rationale will probably relate to encroachment on trustee responsibility to establish its own bylaws and govern itself. Any such effort would probably need to be accomplished by amending the constitution. I would also add, If you aren't a liberal then you don't have anything to worry about.

I have no reason to doubt your account of Dr. Patterson's remarks, but quite honestly, I'd rather hope that you misheard him than believe it. It's too saddening a statement to wish otherwise.

Yes, a HUGE thank you for the updates. My company blocks videos (unless embedded) so I can't watch/listen live during work. It's good to have a place from which I can get quick updates.

Patterson's comments anger and sadden me. I'm so sick of that kind of arrogance exclusiveness. Just because I don't believe the same as him on every little point doesn't make me a "liberal". Will he not rest until he kicks me out too?

Art,

Thanks for the update. I've been watching on and off via internet. I'm sickened reading your post. "Throw out?" Was that really said?
