Sounds like Paige Patterson got egg on his face, and now he intends to strike back at the one throwing the egg. But instead of doing it himself, Dr. P is sicking the other trustees on him. Nice.
This looks to me like a no-win situation. However it works out, there is likely to be a suspicion among African-American Baptists that the conservative, straight-laced, white-oriented SBC could not deal with the perspective brought by an African-American pastor.
