Dr. Dockery Interview and Live Blog

Monday, January 29th, 2007 @ 5:33 am

Over the last week, Timmy Brister has posted an extensive interview with Dr. David Dockery. Dr. Dockery is the President of what could be called the SBC’s collegiate standard, Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Being a Youth Minister for the previous 19 years of my life (before I became a Lead Pastor), I have encouraged many of my students to consider Union as one of their options in furthering their education.

Dr. Dockery and Union University are hosting the Baptist Identity II Conference in February. It is widely regarded by many on all sides of the issues under discussion within the SBC that Dr. Dockery is really seeking to bring unity to a rapidly dividing convention. I’ll be there.

I suppose it is no secret that some people wanted Dr. Dockery to run for President of the SBC last year. He declined, citing a lack of conviction and an enormous schedule - which is apparent. I do not doubt the Sovereignty of God in the election of Frank Page, but I do hope that Dr. Dockery will be available to lead us in the future. It is clear to me that he would bring tremendous spiritual depth and wisdom to the the position and we would certainly be blessed.

Tonight, from 8:00 pm EST until 10:00 pm EST, Dr. Dockery will be answering questions on Brister’s blog. Questions can be submitted after 7:30 pm EST on a post specific to the live blog. Only one question per person. Full details on the live question and answer session can be found at this P&P special announcement.

Before tonight, you should read the full interview. The links are as follows:
