SWBTS Trustees
Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007 @ 9:41 am
Because of the questions swirling around Dr. Klouda’s leaving Southwestern Seminary, the question has been asked how members of SBC churches can contact the Trustees of that institution. Thanks to Micah Fries, who tracked down this document, we can offer you their official contact information.
As always, I urge you to behave in a way that most glorifies Christ. Some of you may agree with her departure, and others of you, it has become clear, do not. Whatever your feelings on the issue, be sure to thank our Trustees for serving the SBC. They are giving of their time and energy to do so.

Brother Art,
Thanks for your posting this material. Please note for your readers that Ted Stone from North Carolina went home to be with the Lord last June. Please help your readers know this would not be something to contact Brother Ted’s wife about.
Blessings,
Tim
PS. I do not know where Brother Micah got this information but if that is old, be careful of others.

Tim-
Thanks for the update. Contacting Bro. Stone’s wife would be unfortunate and not the intent of this posting.
This information is part of the 2006 SBC Annual that was prepared for the annual meeting in Greensboro, NC. It is available to anyone on the Executive Committee’s website. I would warn you, however, that it is an enormous file. It is over 400 pages long. That’s why I went ahead and downloaded it and edited it to just include the SWBTS info.
Blessings

Brother Micah,
My intention was not to question the data, just to point out that it was old. If you perceived a questioning on my part I am sorry.
I just wanted people to understand this would hurt Mrs. Stone immensley because Ted Stone loved SWBTS.
I would also encourage others to write the trustees. That is what the system was put together to do.
Brother Art,
If you feel I am moving the comment stream with this next statment I will understand your deleting this comment.
EO,
Speaking of Trustees. I just went to NAMB’s website and downloaded the Trustee’s recommendation that passed the full board back in October. I encourage you to look at their policy for trustees .
Have a Nice Day,
Tim

Do you know if anyone from NC has replaced him?
The address for Barry W. Thompson is also wrong; he’s now at Mt. Vernon BC in Sandy Springs, GA.

Art (or Micah),
I am curious how many of these trustees were in place when Dr. Klouda was hired? Is that information available online?

Taran-
The trustee’s that were serving in 2002 should have cycled off the board by this point. It’s possible that some have continued to serve consecutive terms but that’s not knowable from this form.

Brother Marty,
I am not certain if he has been replaced. I do not know what the SBC Bylaws say about Trustees leaving in the middle of their term. I know there is a provision for that, but as of yet, I have not been informed. Brother Alan Blume could probably tell you. He is a SWBTS Allumni and also is Chairman of the Committee on the Order of Business.

Associated Baptist Press is now carrying a story that says that ATS may look at SWBTS’s accreditation, if someone registers a formal complaint with them. In some ways, that feels like making a mountain out of a molehill, particularly since Dr. Klouda found a teaching slot elsewhere and is not, evidently, severely damaged. But at least it might serve as a wake-up call to remind the administration and the trustees that they cannot barge forward on the basis of hurtful convictions without reaping some form of criticism.
Or are we going to have another one of those episodes, as we did at SEBTS some years ago, when it will be said that Southern Baptists really do not care about ATS accreditation?
