Other Things From Yesterday

*Convention Messengers note at the bottom of this post

I am up at 5:00 Eastern (4:00 my time)and being reprimanded by Missionaries for nothing new since 1:00 am last night. What’s a guy to do?

I wasn’t there for this, but it was reported to me by almost everyone I know that Joyce Rogers, Mother of Missionary David and Widow of Adrian, spoke to the convention last night. I heard that she emphatically called for cooperation, saying that her late husband fought for the standard of cooperation to be the Bible and the BFM as the umbrella covering us all. At one point, the house erupted in response to this call.

As I said, I wasn’t there, so I may have to pick that up on video at SBC.net.

Wes said Ed Stetzer gave me a less than flattering description when I was publicly harassing him about taking the job at NAMB. I don’t really remember it so Wes is free to post it here. (This was all in good fun, folks. The YLS was a lot of great fellowship, and I appreciate Ed and the work he is doing. I have “Breaking the Missional Code” in my bag right now.

Now I am off to the Founder’s Breakfast at 6:30 am (Eastern!!!) on about 4+ hours of sleep.

*For all those at the convention

The New Motions are received at 8:45 am (Eastern). They are discussed at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm.

The Executive Committee Reports at 9:25 am and 1:45 pm. They are expected to give all or part of its report concerning the amending of SBC ByLaw 15.

Election of officers is scheduled for three times today and other important business is in your schedule and the bulletin.

Be in the auditorium when business starts, with your credentials and ballots.

Now I’m late for breakfast. Gotta go.

1:00pm in Europe and you have nothing substantial to report? I agree with the Asian M, sleep is for sissies! Can we have hourly updates? You can rest on Thursday!

Thanks for blogging all of the goings on.

    Brother Art,
Those that are not as informed as others probably need to be reminded again about their ballots. They must have their ballots and as silly and mundane as it sounds follow the directions of given about how to vote. Many ballots are cast aside because someone sent in the wrong numbered ballot.

Sorry I cannot be there, but have funerals.
    Tim
