The Committee on Committees, appointed directly by the President of the SBC, is bringing its report this week – recommendations for the Committee on Nominations. The Committee on Nominations is the committee that recommends the future Trustees of the various entities of the convention and the other slots that must be filled. It is this committee that is the heart of recycling leadership and that opens us up to the charge of cronyism, connectionalism and caucusing.
The chair of the Committee on Committees was introduced to a group of us last night.
We were told that his committee, at the direction of Bobby Welch himself, was bringing a report (recommendation) that was clean of any leadership recycling, nepotism or cronyism.
Who can say that we don’t all win when this happens? Only those who seek to UNJUSTLY control the SBC could say that.
I applaud the efforts of Bobby Welch and the Committee on Committees for excellent work that smacks of integrity. Thank you ALL very much.

I’m dying to hear some word about the Patterson/Mohler thing.
Did you go.
I wish I could be there. But I have a funeral.

Me too! How did the Patterson/Mohler debate go? Will someone PLEASE post something on it. A transcript would be great.

Is forced good behavior, integrity?
Would that same “integrity” be prevalent without the bloggers?

Hash & Harris,
Sorry, but I didn’t go. I heard that Patterson took an implied swipe at Wade through the alcohol thing, but I can’t quote it because I wasn’t there.
Ann,
I sympathize with what you are saying, but these folks had a problem brought to light and because of that, the leadership of the convention rightly responded to long abused practises and have taken much of the load off of those of us here who felt like we needed to do something from the floor.
This is huge. I really believe they did what they did from a good conscience.
I was 18″ from THE INNER CIRCLE today in the Exec. Comm. meeting and overheard some pretty amazing off the cuff comments.
Because no one else heard them and I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, I am not blogging about the specifics, but they are not happy and they know that things are slipping away.
