Believe it or not, I am still out of town, but heading home today. I was overwhelmingly called to Pastor a church much closer to home. Thanks to all who have prayed so diligently.
I am not posting the name of the church, as I have always been reluctant to do, because I don’t want any misunderstanding that I am writing on behalf of my church. I disdain using my position to influence others, much preferring my ideas to speak for themselves. It was good enough when I was a lowly Youth Minister (said with tongue firmly in cheek) and will be good enough as a Pastor.
For those who are praying for me, add to your prayer for safe travel: Bonnie’s job situation, the new house we want to buy and the house we need to sell. You might add both the new church and our beloved church in Russellville, KY. The timing his pretty tight and there is a lot that has to hit pretty close together and in sequence. God has been so amazingly faithful, and we are grateful.
I will be on the road home today, but I will also be on the phone. Since my cool new phone has the internet integrated as part of the operating system, I can post from the car. How awesome is that? Although I will not be surfing much, if I hear or read anything vital, I will get it up.
The template is what it is, for now. it took me forever to get it like it was with hours of tweaking. Right now, I don’t have hours to give to the looks of 12 Witnesses. Content will nto change and I will slowly bring us back from the brink.
I was adding the cbscottreport.blogspot.com to the list of blogs I read and when I saved the template it cut it off at his name. It’s all your fault, CB. I love you anyway. Who wouldn’t? Well, I guess I know a few folks.
Finally, I just got word that my good buddy and convention seatmate, Kevin Bussey, will have a few up close and personal things to write about Fred Phelps. It seems that God not only “hates fags,” (and you know I hate that word – but it is what Fred uses) the US military, and most everyone else outside is family owned and operated church, but He also hates Southern Baptists. Fred and his family (his church is made up almost entirely of his descendants) will be protesting us in the tight, overcrowded streets of Greensboro. Where did they find hotel rooms? I hope they are not in my hotel.
These are the folks, by the way, that have the audacity to protest the funerals of fallen soldiers. If they are willing to do that, what aren’t they willing to do? Here’s a tip: “Do not answer a fool according to his foolishness, or you’ll be like him yourself.” (Pr. 26:4 HCSV)
In other words, these folks aren’t in it for the discussion. They aren’t listening to any arguments or reason. Just ignore them and keep walking. I know some of their rhetoric will be hard to ignore, but a wise man person go around them and keep moving.
If any media asks you about them, tell them you are being obedient to Pr. 26:4.

Art,
Thank you for the tip about the Phelps. I will have to keep the bulldogs away from them. They might mistake them(on purpose) for fire hydrants. Also if Luther were to bite one of them he might catch a fungus and I really don’t want a:

Safe travel might hinge on focusing on driving in the car and not blogging. Just some friendly advice. :)
Unless of course your lovely wife is driving while you are typing.

Phelps may be a good illustration for the reformed guys in conversation.

Excellent observation, Kevin.
I have heard a few interviews with him and one with his daughter. They are absolutely hyper-calvinists, not concerned with winning anyone because it is not their job or problem. Condemning everyone seems to be their God given job, though.
