I have been overwhelmed by seeing the devastation of “Spiritual Wars” for politics within the convention. It’s why I signed the Memphis Declaration. Yet I have been taken to task by several who think that the internal issues of the Southern Baptist Convention are not worth our time. It seems that other things are more important to them.
I have disagreed. It is a small point of contention, though.
Tonight I read something that truly dwarfs all of our issues. I want you to spend some time reading this article:
Sojourner: God’s calling is not safe
The political machine has cranked up against some of the signatories of the Memphis Declaration. I knew that it was possible that some would be targeted. I, personally, and I believe that all of my fellow signatories, counted the cost and were willing to make a stand for what is right.
Our jobs may be on the line, but our lives are not. In no way can I attempt to compare the potential sacrifices by missionaries in unsafe areas of the world to the potential sacrifices of the Memphis 30, and others who have signed later.
I think, though, in the defense of the rights of our missionaries that we must be willing to risk something, since they are risking everything.
I am so humbled by Kiki’s post, I must stop here.

I wish every one in support of missions would know what it is to walk in their shoes. Every Christian should support missions which CHRIST told us to do. All of the road blocks that are put in the way of missionary’s who are called by GOD has to STOP.
